Jen cries when she talks about things that move her. From politics to education to a presentation she’s excited to share with a client. We’re lucky to be able to work with and for clients who have passion, purpose, and a desire to make good change in the world. I say good because it’s important to be specific.

Jen’s eyes start to well up when she talks about her kids. She is equally teary when discussing a project we just wrapped up that makes a difference, such as the breastfeeding campaign we worked on with Ingham County Health Department. You’ll notice her in meetings, during presentations to clients, or in conversations, with no warning, start to tear up and then it’s over. It feels good to work with someone who gives that much of a shit about the world and their surroundings.

That’s one of many attributes and quirks of a Redhead. Jen’s also a very fast talker AND thinker, and she tends to talk to herself out loud. You notice the idiosyncrasies of people when you spend time with them, for better or for worse.

Most Reds share a love for singing and humming. Depending on the song, sometimes you would think they’d rehearsed beforehand. Sometimes Jill starts and the rest follow. Well, everyone except this crowd-diagnosed misophonic. That’s another story.  We all also enjoy a bit of dancing, especially the shoulder shrug move. Because, sometimes that feeling just hits and, well, deadlines.

Speaking of Jill, she’s a tapper. Not like tapping while wearing tap shoes. She’ll tap both her feet, quickly and alternately, a couple of times, and then apologize for it. I think she gets in a zone, either stuck on something and needs to tap it out, or a breakthrough where she celebrates with her own little ovation, like cheering on the project and herself.

Although Liz is the newest Red, she fits right in. She says, “Shut up!” when she gets excited, which is often. She has amazing self-control and takes small breaks throughout the day. Not the getting-out-of-my-chair breaks, but small breaks from looking at her screen to give her eyes and mind a rest. When she completed her first project, it felt like Christmas in June up in here.

Shelby. Man, I cannot wait to see where Shelby takes herself. That girl is smart, funny and tells it like it is after a little practice. She doesn’t think she’s funny, so whenever she says something funny, she says it like it’s going to fail, in that self-deprecating tone. So when we laugh or tell her that something’s funny, she’s genuinely surprised and not sure what to do with it. Shelby is also the biggest advocate for girl empowerment and drinking your milk. Get on Instagram and see for yourself.

And I’m clearly the creeper in the corner who is way over-observant and pays way too much attention to my surroundings. It’s really to distract myself from all the noise. Half-kidding.
