People wonder what a project manager/account services role is. And while it’s not the sexiest job description for most people, it’s what excites weirdos like me.

Just last week, my task list consisted of the following:

– Update clients on schedules and process.
– Kick off a new campaign with the team.
– Write a few proposals.
– Research. Research. Research.
– Make cocktails.
– Ensure the team is fed as they’re off on a photo shoot.
– Water the plants.
– Solve math. (Math is great. Calculators make it even better. Still, check your work.)
– Surf the socials.
– Technical support.
– Catch a typo. Sometimes my own. Sometimes I miss those.
– Brainstorm a name for a new organization.
– Review client edits.
– Phone calls.
– Excel spreadsheets.
– New business.
– Old business.
– Ongoing business.
– Compile data and build reports.
– Problem-solve with the team.
– Create content infrastructure for a website.
– Website testing for user error.
– Cocktails

Sure, at first glance, there’s nothing glamorous or creative about budgets, proposals, client emails and meetings, and the never-ending deadline schedule, but if you look a bit deeper, it is glamorous and creative. Here are some intentionally posed photos to prove it.

In the end, being the noncreative in a creative agency can feel like a lonely place. Your brain functions differently than the people you spend the most time with, and you’re in a world focused on the less-charming aspects of the project. But that’s a good thing, as each project member focuses on the details that matter for their area of expertise, thus keeping all the important details from falling through the proverbial cracks. At the end, we all come together to check off that list to make sure our processes and work are sound.

Until we watch cat videos, and then things just get messy.
