This sugar scrub has been my go-to for forever. I kid you not, I believe I’ve gone through approximately 21 jars of it. Once you’ve got all your ingredients on hand, it takes less than 10 minutes to make and is easy to whip up when you’re in a pinch. And it makes a great gift!
It lasts about two weeks before the sugar loses its abrasiveness. But if you’re like me, it’ll be hard to not use it all up within that time (confession: I basically use it head-to-toe.) After a few days, the oil begins to separate a bit but it’s no biggie. Just give it a quick stir with your finger before applying and you’re back in business.
Ingredients
– 1 tsp cetyl alcohol pellets
– 1/2 tsp beeswax pellets
– 3 Tbsp of olive oil
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 10-15 drops of essential oils of your choice (optional — see my personal favorites below)
Directions
Melt the cetyl alcohol, beeswax, and olive oil together in a double boiler. While that’s melting, grab the container you’d like your end product in and pour in the brown sugar. Once the waxes and oil have completely melted together, pour the mixture over the sugar. Drop in the essential oils and stir everything together. Voilà!
