Elegant, creative solutions take a good amount of space.

Time for play, explorations, wandering. Sometimes even a lack of agenda. We know this, but we don’t lean into it as much as we ought to. I mean, how many brilliant ideas have you gotten in the shower?

We too often underestimate the subconscious mind, and make up for it by packing our schedules and to-do lists to the brim in order to give us a sense of security.

In design, we respect the power of purposeful negative space. Not only does it aid readability, but it creates a more pleasant viewing experience for our audiences. I  think we could do ourselves a favor by incorporating this same principle into our creative process.

What might happen if we re-arranged our priorities and gave ourselves a little more empty space?
